VR Experience Layout (Solved Case)

Introduction to the case:

Start with an audio room where users can watch some video clips about the case and have a general understanding of the background of the case.

Recreation of the crime location:

User can then steps into the role of an observer and explore the crime scene guided by a narrator

(It was sunny day in 2007, when peace of xxx was shattered. ……..)

The user can explore the scene, inspecting objects like watches, wallet, shoe print, or a jacket, each of them cloud triggering a brief audio clip or a pop up window that explain (info) their significance to the case.

User will ask to collect at least 5 evidence from the scene to unlock the next level.

The Investigation:

The users will be transported to a police station or an evidence room where they will be presented with an evidence board featuring photo evidences, police sketches, etc.

User cloud reviewing evidence and find a special object to unlock the door for the next level.

Unresolved Ending (Closing In) (Justice in Action):

The scene shifts to the location of the arrest perhaps a public space where the police confronted the suspect.

Or

The scene cloud shifts to a viewing room and doing a police lineup, to identify a suspect from a group of individuals.

Introduction to the case:

Begin in a virtual recreation of the location where the crime was discovered (eg. Forested area in Stanley Park)

With a voice over or visual elements.

Provide some historical background, setting the scene for the mystery.

The Investigation:

Move to a police station or evidence room where users can explore different pieces of evidence and listen or watch interviews with witnesses or experts, etc.

Unresolved Ending:

Close in a space that cloud be a memorial site or cemetry

Reflect the impact of unsolved mysteries and emotions it leaves behind.

The murder of Lindssay Buziak (2008) Unresolved

Location: Sannich, near Victoria on Vancouver island, British Columbia

Victim: Lindssay Buziak, 24 years old real estate agent

What happened:

She was lured to a property by two individuals posing as potential buyers interested in a million dollar home.

The suspects, a men and a women, arranged a viewing under false pretenses.

When Lindsay showed up, she was brutally stabbed inside the house.

The case Remains unsolved, despite extensive investigation, and there is a lot of speculations regarding the motive and the identity of suspects.

Crime Scene:

A newly built, vacant house in a suburban area. The crime took place during the daylight hours in an open house reviewing scenario.

Rocky Rambo Wei Nam Kam  (2017) Resolved

High profile double homicide.

Location: Marpole nighborhoold of Vancouver.

What happened:

September 26th 2017, Richard Jones and his wife Dianna Mah-Jones were found dead in their home.

Dianna– Occupational therapist

Richard– Retired

The killing were particularly violent

Both stabbing and blunt (Force trauma)

Kam entered the couple’s home, reportedly through an unlocked door.

The murder of Marrisa Shen (2017) Resolved

Date: July 18th 2017.

Location: Central park, Burnaby, British Columbia.

(A suburb adjacent to Vancouver)

What happened:

Marrisa Shen

A 13 years old girl, last seen alive near her apartment before her body was found in central park.

The discovery of her body in the park came after a search was initiated when her family reported her missing earlier that day.

The police determined her death to be a homicide.

After over an year of investigation, Ibrahim Aii, a Syrian refugee, was arrested and charged with Marrisa’s murder in 2018.
